3	"Brush fire on April 14-15" Brush fire on April 14-15, 1961 Westlake Fire Department organized on April 17, 1961 The fire department became a taxing entity in 1983 and changed it name to Travis County Rural Fire Prevention District No. 1 Paid program started in 1990 with coverage 8-5 Monday - Friday Paid program moved to 24 hr. coverage in 1995 Changed from Fire District (3 cents/$100) to Travis County Emergency Service District #9 (7.1 cents/ $100) in Oct., 1995 Now we have 9 firefighters per shift 24 hrs.

10	Pay and Benefits 24/48 schedule with Kelly shifts. Annual salary after probationary period is $32,190.00 plus incentives. Vacation and Sick leave. United Health Care medical / Aetna dental insurance. 90/10 Coverage for employee. District pays half of coverage for spouse/dependents. Deductibles paid by the department 457 Retirement, vested on day one of employment. ( 8 % match) Short term / long term disability
