Volunteering with Westlake Fire Department

 

The Westlake Fire Department is a combination volunteer and paid organization.  Both volunteers and paid staff work side by side and are organized into “Engine Companies”.  Westlake Fire Department has a total of 36 volunteers and 30 paid/career Firefighters/EMTs.  All volunteers receive excellent training and benefits. 

The pics are laodingCommunity Service Group volunteers provide crucial support to both Firefighters and to victims of fire.  The Community Service Group is divided into Rehab Service and Fire Victim’s Service.  The average time commitment is 6 hours per month.

Volunteer Firefighters/EMT’s work with paid staff and commit to attending monthly trainings, individual training, and work flexible shifts throughout the month.  The minimum service commitment is 24 hours per month.

We are currently looking for Community Service Group Volunteers to assist the Department in serving victims of fire.  Volunteers are needed to provide both physical and emotional support to victims and Firefighters during an emergency.

Did you know?

The Westlake Fire Department is a combination volunteer and paid organization.  Both volunteers and paid staff are organized into “Engine Companies” and participate in an organized coverage schedule, serving as firefighters and EMT First Responders.  Both volunteer and career Firefighters/EMT’s provide incident response and perform administrative, training, and maintenance functions.

 

In order to volunteer, you must be at least 16 years old, hold a valid Texas driver’s license, have reliable transportation, be physically fit, and have a desire to better yourself and help your community.

Volunteer Member Benefits

 

·        Westlake Fire Department provides volunteers with a flexible individual training schedule.  Volunteers work toward State Firemen’s Fire Marshal’s Association Certification, EMT certification, and fire victim service training.

                        

 

 

·        Westlake Fire Department provides each Member with excellent group training offered at least three times per month. Training Page

       

 

·        Westlake Fire Department provides Members with a Field Training Officer (FTO) to explain Department procedures, assist with training, and to mentor a new Member. 

             

 

·        Westlake Fire Department reimburses Members for fire-related education, EMT-B, and in some cases sponsorship for Texas Commission on Fire Protection Certification courses.
