The Travis County Commissioners Court implemented the Burn Ban in Travis County, effective August 20, 2024 . Outdoor burning is allowed in the unincorporated areas of Travis County.

Outdoor burning will be allowed in Travis County ESD No. 9 by permit only. To obtain a burn permit please apply online at www.wfdpermits.com. A Fire Department official will set up an appointment to come out and conduct a site inspection.

It is recommended to apply for a burn permit three to five days prior to the desired commencement of the burn.

Outdoor burning is always prohibited in the cities of Austin, Rollingwood and West Lake Hills.
