EMERGENCY PREVENTION DIVISION

SUBMIT APPLICATION NOW

The Travis County Emergency Services District No. 9 (aka “Westlake Fire Department”) Emergency Prevention Division reviews plans for all new construction and remodels within its district in order to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Plans for all projects in Travis County ESD No. 9 shall be submitted electronically using the link above or by going to www.wfdpermits.com. If the link or web site do not work for any reason, please contact us immediately at inspector@westlakefd.org to discuss submitting in an alternative manner.

Please understand that plans are reviewed in the order they are received. Depending on current workload and complexity of plans submitted, plan reviews may take up to two weeks to complete. Also note that Westlake Fire Department charges a fee for most plan reviews and inspections. When making a payment, checks shall be payable to “Travis County ESD No. 9” or “Westlake Fire Department”. Please call the Emergency Prevention Division at (512) 539-3400 if you require assistance.

We commonly review the following types of plans:

• Final Plats, Re-Plats, Preliminary Plats, General Development Plans • Site Plans • Subdivision Plans • New Shell Building Plans • New Building Plans, New Tenant Finish-Outs • Building Plan (Building Renovation/Remodel, Remodel of Existing Tenant Space) • Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems (Residential & Commercial) • Standpipe Systems • Fire Alarm Systems • Kitchen Vent Hood Fire Suppression Systems • Alternative Fire Suppression Systems (Spray Booths, Dry/Wet Chemical, etc) • Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Booster Systems

Outdoor Burning in Travis County

The Travis County Commissioners Court  has lifted the Burn Ban in Travis County. Outdoor burning is allowed in the unincorporated areas of Travis County.

Outdoor burning will be allowed in Travis County ESD No. 9 by permit only. To obtain a burn permit please apply online at www.wfdpermits.com. A Fire Department official will set up an appointment to come out and conduct a site inspection.

It is recommended to apply for a burn permit three to five days prior to the desired commencement of the burn.

Outdoor burning is always prohibited in the cities of Austin, Rollingwood and West Lake Hills.
