The Travis County Commissioners Court implemented a Burn Ban in Travis County, effective September 23, 2025 . Outdoor burning is NOT allowed in the unincorporated areas of Travis County.

Outdoor burning will be allowed in Travis County ESD No. 9 by permit only. To obtain a burn permit, please apply online at www.wfdpermits.com. A Fire Department official will set up an appointment to come out and conduct a site inspection.

It is recommended to apply for a burn permit three to five days prior to the desired commencement of the burn.

Outdoor burning is always prohibited in the cities of Austin, Rollingwood and West Lake Hills.
